The Starfinder TTRPG universe is expanding with the release of Starfinder Enhanced in October 2023. The new book was announced earlier today on Paizo’s Twitter feed along with a note that reads “From totally revised fundamentals like core classes and starship combat to brand-new systems for expanding the way you play, this rules resource offers fresh ideas while still blending with the existing system.”
The expansion to the popular space TTRPG brings lots of rule updates but this isn’t a new edition, as Paizo explained on Twitter. “For context, we did something like this nearly 10 years ago with Pathfinder (First Edition) Unchained. It is not a new edition, but will offer new Starfinder options. It is not a revised Starfinder Core Rulebook. It will be used with it and the other rulebooks.”
Starfinder Enhanced
This 192-page hardcover rules resource offers fresh ideas and new gameplay systems while still staying true to the existing Starfinder framework. Starfinder Enhanced brings revisions to core classes like the envoy, solarian, technomancer, and witchwarper. These classes have been rebalanced to make them more intuitive and easier to play.
Starfinder Enhanced also offers a host of new character options. New archetypes, spells, equipment, and over 90 new feats give players the ability to truly customize their characters and make them unique. The update also includes rules for scalable equipment, which means that players no longer have to trade in their favorite weapon or tool as they progress through the game. This feature allows gear to evolve and improve right alongside the character, making it more efficient and reliable.
One of the most thrilling aspects of space RPGs is the starship combat, and Starfinder Enhanced introduces new subsystems to make it even more engaging. Additionally, expanded creature companions and new ways to spend Resolve Points add a level of strategy and decision-making to the game that keeps it fresh and challenging.
Finally, Starfinder Enhanced includes 12 playable species, including fan favorites like the shapeshifting kitsune and entirely new options like the tiny novians born from dying suns.
