Rimspace Planet Generator
Just in time for my dive into Mothership TTRPG comes a resource that I didn’t know I needed this much – the Rimspace Planet Generaor. Created by Ian Yusem with the help of Meredith Silver, Matt Umland, and Liam Stevens, this app creates planets for the Mothership companion book Hull Breach Vol. 1. Part of the appeal of Mothership and old school revival (OSR) games is the use of random tables and dice to create experiences. This website utilizes the same ideas but simplifies the process to randomly generate planets, complete with diameter, gravity, day cycles, and atmosphere.
Rimspace Planet Generator also creates random points of interest, mysteries of the planet, and story hooks to work with. The interface colors can change to your liking and a small button on the bottom right makes the screen look like an old school 1970s monochrome green monitor. This tool is beautifully designed and fun to play with. You can download your planet and print out for tabletop session or you can play from the website with both GM and player modes available.
